Radical Islam or Real Islam?

What is radical Islam? Longer beards and shorter pantaloons? Buruga, gender apartheid and female genital mutilation? Miswak dental care, Pakistani headgear and private mosques?
Thirty years ago we could count the number of people who could read and understand Arabic on our fingers and toes. Now we have Doctors and PhDs in every Islamic field. Many of these people have studied in Holy Mecca and Medina - the placed where Mohammed walked and where the Koran was revealed to him. Every year since 1978 during Ramazan real Arab Muslims have come to teach us what is Islam. Islam is a large part of the education curriculum and we even have specialized schools to teach Arabic and Islam. The state has spent an enormous amount of money and resouces on increasing Islamic awareness.
Thirty years ago when we read the Koran we just mouthed the words. We did not know or understand what what we were reading. Now the place is full of learned religious people who will tell you what this Koranic verse reveals and what that Hadith means.
Could this rise of Islamic radicalism be related to more awareness, understanding and adherence to the Koran and Hadiths?

U've got the wrong idea. U see, wearing burqa n having beards is not being radical. It is being a true muslim. Only ppl like u think that is being radical.

Remember how worried u were cos Maldivian women covered their bodies n wore burugaa? U said Maldives was becoming a Pakistan or a dhivehistan or sumthin like that back then. Now why change ur tune? :-)

    typical IRG. alwez scoring own-goals.

U see, there is only one religion called Islam. There's no such thing called "Radical Islam" and "Normal Islam". Islam means Islam.

Only ppl like u look at them and call them 'radical' if they are too religious or oppose the US or Israel.

I don't need to go n read anything. Unlike u, I know what I'm talking about.

Vainrooney that comment wasnt directed at u..but directed to the swine ismail rasheedh...
and there are such things as radical islam..and that is when one goes to the extremes, and that is something forbidden..the kharijites is one good example of radicals who left the methodology of the companions of the prophet sallalahu 'alaihiwasallam.
And also there are such things as leniants, for example mutazilites, (you see them in azhar university) who water down islam.
once again the previous comment was directed at ismail rasheed

It is only through the mercy and blessings of Almighty Allah that we have the great gift of Imaan and along with this great gift comes great responsibility i.e. to try and get every person to bring faith in one Creator, Allah Ta’ala. Through His mercy and blessings He has given every human being intellect so that they can differentiate between right and wrong. The right being that there is only one Allah and Muhammad (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) is His final messenger. Whoever follows him (Muhammad (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) i.e. his lifestyle, will enter into Paradise and have eternal bliss.
With regards to those who disobey Allah, they will be doomed into the fire of Hell. If one practises Islam in a correct manner, those around him will see the beauty of Islam and Insha-Allah, Allah Ta’ala will grant them guidance to accept our magnificent Deen.

Alhamdhu lilaahibil aalameen wah solaathu wah salaam ala sayyidhil murs wa alaa aalihee wa sohubihee ma-ah thasleem. Ammaa baidhu.Sayaqoolu haazaa.

May the blessings of Allah subhanahoo wa tha_aalaa be on you and may He (swt) bestow 1500 perpetual virgins to you.

I use a miswak to do isthinjaa after qaloa haajaa and isthibraaa. I step into hammaam with my left foot first. That is the way of Sallaloahu wa sallam
