It comes as no surprise that the head of the Islamic council of MDP "B. A" Naseem has asked Anni to reconsider choosing a woman as his running mate.
Sura (2:228) - "and the men are a degree above them [women]"

He said, 'This is the deficiency in her religion.'" Allah has made women deficient in the practice of their religion as well, by giving them menstrual cycles.
This mullah has previously opposed the law making 18 years the minimum age for marriage.
The Democratic party candidate appears to be caving into the demands of the mullahs - the fear of offending Allah by elevating a woman to a position equal to a man now has taken hold of most Maldivians.

It is unclear whether or not Anni will now change his nomination in line with these views, but he appeared open to changing his decision, saying “the party has a number of very capable options.”

This is clear proof that the Maldivian Democratic Party (or for that matter any of the other political groupings) has absolutely no regard for the rule of law. The constitution expressly permits women to hold the positions of president and vice president. So what authority does Anni have to give in to the veto of a paedophile-loving mullah against the candidacy of a woman? Think about it my fellow Maldivians! This constitution is a farce from the outset. As far as these Muslims are concerned, there is only one law in the Maldives and that is “La ilaaha illa-Allah; Muhammad-paedophilan rasool-Allah.
