"War is deceit"

Dhivehistan Report will not be responding to Vain Rooney's statement and question regarding slavery and Islam. We are very disturbed and concerned to find that some kind of a war has been declared.

We thought we were engaged in an honest intellectual debate because Sheik Saleh Al-Fawzan a member of the Senior Council of Clerics, Saudi Arabia's highest religious body, a member of the Council of Religious Edicts and Research, the Imam of Prince Mitaeb Mosque in Riyadh and a professor at Imam Mohamed Bin Saud Islamic University, Saudi Arabia's main center of learning declared in his book "Al-Tawheed – Monotheism" that 'Slavery is a part of Islam'. Muslims who contend Islam is against slavery "are ignorant, not scholars." "They are merely writers," he said. "Whoever says such things is an infidel".
Sheik Saleh Al-Fawzans writings have been translated into Dhivehi and are circulating in the Maldives. If Rooney wishes to question the claim of Sheik Saleh Al-Fawzan, we advise him to contact the Sheik.

"War is deceit" according to Mohammed, Prophet of Allah. We do not want to engage in neither war nor taqiyya.
Instead, Dhivehistan Report will join our brothers and sisters and endeavor to emulate the way of Jesus of Nazareth, Prince of Peace and turn the other cheek.

The report about Sheik Saleh Al-Fawzan's claim that slavery is part of Islam has resulted in a spate of comments, some interesting and others in decidedly bad taste. We urge our readers to refrain from making comments that are irrelevant to the post and topic.
To end this posting I bring you some words of wisdom from Siddhārtha Gautama , the Buddha. Although very little remains today, for about 1500 years(which is still longer than Maldivians have prostrated towards Mecca), statues of the Enlightened One dotted the Maldive islands and the people of Maldives, our ancestors, took refuge in the wisdom this sage of the Sakyas.

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."- Gautama Buddha

That is funny! the site says in bold red letters "Wars, might be a bit stronger word, but I’m sure you’ve got the idea."

I hope that the Way of the Enlightened One Siddhārtha Gautama Budhdhi-aa is restored to these shores and will last another 1500 years and much much more! I pray to Almighty God that the ancient hopes and dreams of our beloved King Hassan IX are realised fully. The Prince of Peace shall prevail over these atolls!

I have gone through the text twice and did not notice anything that the blog claims. Will do it again when I have time. In fact I found the text enlightening. Really children I thought we were all above silly little fights like this. Slavery wasn't instituted by a religion. We are all capable of slavery no matter how much we'd like to believe that we aren't and our history is proof of this (our in reference to humanity). We should be celebrating the fact that we've been able to put legalized slavery behind us. Shouldn't we all band together and refuse to let people who would like to reincarnate the legalized practice of slavery be heard instead of making a cause celebre out of it?

    hamza,
if somebody write in a blog that ur a serial-rapist, what will u do?
sit behind and watch just cos raping is not allowed in law?
or just sit back cos u dont wanna defend urself cos ppl will call u childish?

u c, these ppl started saying islam allows n encourages slavery. unlike u we will not sit behind n watch like cowards. and we have proved that they were wrong. so unlike u, we have guts :-)

only ppl like u who dont have guts say we're "children". come to think of it, ya. we're very young. but we're still putting off a good fight against 35 year olds on the payroll of Pope himself.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Anonymous3:18 PM

Vain, if someone was stupid enough to call me a serial rapist or even a child molester on my blog I might respond to it or I might not. As you've so kindly pointed out we're two very different people (distinguished by our innards or lack of the same).

Anyhoo, I didn't know you were enjoying this little debate but I do now so by all means don't let me stand in your way. All I was trying to say is that religious bigotry in one form only breeds religious bigotry in another. All I see is two intolerant religious bigots fighting one another with no hope of ever reaching a compromise.

And by the way, you just called me a coward and you don't have the slightest idea who I am and how far I would go for my ideals. Just in case you're mistaken I'm not a Muslim but I believe in tolerance and I think this website and its content (and sadly your website as well) is counterproductive to my cause and I am doing everything in my gutless power to defend my convictions.

I don't know how young you actually are but I'm not exactly ancient either. If you were defending Islam from a position of moral superiority (where you've never resorted to twisting facts and calling names at other religions) I wouldn't ever have said anything. The same goes for the people of this blog.

Most comments I have seen so far from u were against me n my blog.

"Just in case you're mistaken I'm not a Muslim"

    That explains a lot.

I'll keep that in my mind next time I respond to a comment by u.

Sorry if the word 'coward' hurt ur feelings. I thought u were a muslim (cos of ur name).

Vain: Thank you for your apology, I accept it. I'm rather fond of my Arabic name and wouldn't change it for the world. I have a soft spot for certain aspects of the culture of my country of birth and breeding.

Anonymous: It doesn't when you take it out of context like that does it? :P

Ismail Rashid: Yes I agree with the basic principle that you've stated (that we need to stop making things sacred and unassailable) but wouldn't it be more productive and less reprehensible to actually feature the shortcomings of religion in general instead of attacking one religion solely on your blog? From what I've seen its mostly a mix of nationalism, cliquey-ness and xenophobia that just utilizes religious texts to legitimate the kind of dangerous idealism you've described. In my opinion, war-mongering, male chauvinism and other social ills are a product of a much wider range of ingrained social values and shouldn't be just attributed to religion. Hope you still think I'm being insightful :D.

IRG, i'm ready for a truce if u guys stop posting incorrect propaganda about islam in this blog.

u wanna be a christians, fine. be christians. just don't insult islam.

don't forget that the VainRooney blog was created as a retaliation to ur provoking articles.

    ok ppl, u can't say i'm against peace :-)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Anonymous12:23 PM

No Vainrooney, it won't be a historical moment. A Muslim leaving Islam and, in particular, becoming a Christian IS very much an insult to Islam according Muslim thinking. It is your sacred duty to murder any apostate who repeatedly refuses to return to Islam. I am afraid you cannot live with that burden of both collective responsibility (fard kifayah) and individual responsibility (fard ayeniyyah) to murder apostates. The only reason why you won't discharge that Mahomedan obligation is because you cannot find us.

Assalaam Alaikum Vainrooney and Shunan. I am concerned about this growth of Christianity in Maldives. You guys are good at stopping this type of nonsense. Please Please do something about this danger. Today I have seen Amazon Books selling Dhivehi Bible. Isn't that illegal? Don't they know that our 100% Muslim country owns Dhivehi? Please complain to the authorities about this and get government to government help to ban this sale. We can send a ship from Maldives Coast Guard against Amazon Books. Amazon Books is even claimimg there is a Bible Society of Maldives. Who runs it? is that IRG? Please Vainrooney and Shunan help us stop this. Jazakumullah Khair. Wassalaam!

Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles..... Were you too scared to click on BOTH the links? The others are in the pipeline. For an organization that has been around only a few years, the Maldivian Bible Society has done better at translating the Bible than Muslims have done translating the Quran. Didn't it take 900 years to translate it and 30 years to print? By the way, the Pope's Euros are never fake unlike MRF 500 notes that we are paid by the government here.
